PURE EV Startup Launches Extended Warranty Policy For Its Electric Vehicles

Electric Vehicle Startup PURE EV an IIT Hyderabad-Incubated Startup has announced a new ‘Warranty Extension’ policy with retrospective benefit for existing customers.

The Extended Warranty Policy covers key power-train components (Battery, Motor, and Controller) for all its current models. The company states it has spent more than two years to evaluate and bring forward this policy that has been formulated on the basis of a data-driven approach. The data points assessed include on-ground product performance of these components over 40,000 KM for many of the PURE EV models and indeed in-house test data over last two years, customers and dealers’ feedback, and other related areas.

Elaborating about this system, Dr. Nishanth Dongari, Founder, PURE EV, and Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, IIT Hyderabad, “The entire EV components manufacturing ecosystem is at a nascent stage today in the country and PURE EV is working extensively for continuous improvements in the components design life and field reliability through our research center at IIT Hyderabad. We have a strong R&D team in the entire power train components related to battery, motor and controller who work closely with our manufacturing and service teams and evaluating feedbacks from various stakeholders. This announcement of extension in the warranty policy is done after strong data analytics and through extensive design improvements of these critical components.”

Further, Dr. Nishanth Dongari said, “One of the strong initiatives that the Company took last year was launch of Batrics Faraday, an AI-driven hardware which enables battery service failures resolution at dealers’ levels. This saves precious man-hours otherwise spent in replacement of series of cells and significantly reduces the battery ‘Turn Around Time’ (TAT).”

Speaking further about this policy Rohit Vadera, Chief Executive Officer of PURE EV said, “We are delighted to announce that this extended warranty policy will also be applicable on retrospective basis and all our existing customers can also avail of this policy. This increase in warranty time period is an outcome of our years of comprehensive feedback evaluation mechanism through our customers and various other stakeholders. While this warranty policy is backed financially through our strong balance sheet, emphasis on factory training of our dealers service technicians and extensive investments in after sales service infrastructure which is at par with the traditional ICE vehicles.”

PURE EV has already launched Four models that are available over 100 touch points across India with plans to expand further in the future. The company’s products are designed and manufactured in Hyderabad with a customer base in all major cities ranging from Srinagar to Tamil Nadu and Gujarat to West Bengal. The company has a current manufacturing capacity of 60,000 vehicles per year.

The company has set up a dedicated factory in a built-up area of 70,000 sq.ft. for large scale manufacturing of electric vehicles. The company has access to all the R&D facilities from IIT Hyderabad and strong technological support. It has raised funding from Hyderabad-based pharmaceuticals visionary Shri V.C. Nannapaneni, Chairman and Managing Director, NATCO Pharma Ltd, in his personal capacity, which puts the startup at a valuation of USD 35 Million Valuation.
