Urban India Making A Conscious Choice Of Shifting To E-Vehicles

India, also known as a nation driven by youth, is dominated by millennials. With one-third of the country and nearly 46%of the workforce consisting of this generation, the spirit of Urban India remains young. The millennials, as individuals, are more aware, educated and politically-sound about their environment and country than others. They are sensitive to the green cover and the impact caused to it by anthropogenic activities, and thus making environment-conscious choices, especially in what drives them, literally! Cutting down on fuel-emissions and other drastic effects of fuel-driven vehicles, they are switching to electric vehicles to cover their distances, making it a next-gen transport. With the contemporary culture demanding frequent short trips within localised areas and the cost-effective nature of e-vehicles make them just the right mobility choice.

Urban India is not unknown to the fact that our country is still developing and incidents such as road rages, air quality index worsening and obstructed flow of economy retards evolution of the sector and India as a whole. To mitigate these risks pertaining to the growth of the country, it is time to adopt greener and wiser resolutions such as electric vehicles. The focus on the sector deserves its due traction and the need of the hour further reflects how the government is taking appropriate measures and inspiring citizens to opt for eco-friendly transport.

The global concern for controlling GHG (Greenhouse gas) emissions by vehicles is making it mandatory for the government to encourage the use of electric-powered vehicles across various states, boosting the demand for electric public transport in India. The market is driven by factors such as the increase in domestic manufacturing, rapid urbanisation, and a rise in environmental awareness.  E-vehicles have multiple benefits including cleaner air, improved public health, with decreased cases of diseases, reduced oil import bills and better foreign reserves. Therefore, densely populated cities make a good market for compact and energy-efficient commuting.

The global circumstances along with India's scenario in specific call for a green solution that further promotes a healthier environment cover and better air quality. Fuel-driven vehicles are not cutting it for the citizens and the natural cover and due to the repercussions such as fuel emissions and other concerns surfacing, thus the need to bring in a cost-effective, eco-friendly, suitable-to-the-situation solution of increasing e-vehicles. With policies such as FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles) backing it up, electric vehicles are supporting the present and securing the future of India.

Furthermore, the current trajectory of adding even more vehicles running on expensive imported fuel, cluttering of already overcrowded cities is suffering from infrastructural bottlenecks and intense air pollution. The Indian cities are bound to choke if this revolution of e-transportation is delayed any further. India calls for an all-electric commuting experience for a better today and  tomorrow, starting from going electric with mobility and preventing causing any damage to the environment, economy and country development any further.
