The second-generation BMW M2 has finally been introduced by German luxury automaker BMW. The car has a completely new design and is available with both a manual and automatic powertrain. The updated front end features a kidney-shaped grille with distinctive horizontal slats as one of the changes. The new BMW M2's dimensions are 4,580mm long, 1,887mm wide, and 1,403mm tall. Beginning in the first quarter of 2023, deliveries will start.
A massively built-up front bumper with three sizable cooling ducts is present. The headlamps have LED graphics and are smaller. Wheel arches have a muscular appearance and flared skirts on the sides. The wheels have a double-spoke design, a black finish, and front and rear diameters of 19 inches and 20 inches, respectively.
A lip spoiler, LED taillights, and a deep diffuser with four exhaust points are included on the back. The bumper is relatively large and has side-by-side vertical reflectors. There will be five exterior colour options available for the second-generation BMW M2. This includes the Zandvoort Blue solid and Toronto Red metallic, which are specific to the model.
Compared to the previous M2, the glass sunroof on the BMW M2 has a 20% bigger surface area. Customers can also choose a plastic roof reinforced with carbon fibres to lessen the weight of the entire vehicle and to lower the centre of gravity.
The M4 engine, which has the internal codename S58, powers the BMW M2. At 6,250 rpm, the twin-turbocharged 3.0L I-6 is reported to produce 453 horsepower, up 48 horsepower from the earlier S55 engine. However, the vehicle's torque stays constant at 406 lb.-ft. (550 Nm), which is accessible between 2,650 and 5,870 rpm. At 7,200 rpm, the ignition cutout is set.
A typical 6-speed manual transmission is mated to the engine. While an optional 8-speed transmission is available for the automatic variant. BMW M2 is said to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. The time is 3.9 seconds with automatic transmission but is cut by 0.2 seconds.
