The national capital Delhi has started observing improvement in the Air Quality Index (AQI). After Delhi air pollution comes down a bit in the capital, the Delhi govt is lifting the ban on BS4 diesel and BS3 petrol cars. All types of vehicles can move on roads from 14 Nov. gradually the government is changing the GRAP (Graded Response Action Plan) which was brought last week.
A few days back, the govt of Delhi withdrew the GRAP and allowed the entry of non-BS6 diesel vehicles, which was restricted under the latest strategy to bring down pollution. The GRAP also bought a prohibition on private BS4 diesel vehicles.
Before the ban was lifted, Delhi Traffic Police stopped more than 1,200 diesel light motor vehicles from entering Delhi under the GRAP. The Centre's air quality panel recently issued new regulations regarding the removal of the curbs put in place during the final stage of the GRAP. Gopal Rai, the Delhi Environment Minister, presided over the discussion.
Last week, the Centre’s air quality panel authorities ordered to lift of the prohibition on entering of non BS6 diesel light motor vehicles in Delhi and heavy trucks into the national capital imposed under the last stage of GRAP.
These prohibitions on entering Delhi have imposed a few days ago, as the air quality index crossed the category of hazardous by crossing the number 450. Just to take rapid action the Delhi government prohibited the entry of non-BS6 diesel-run vehicles and construction works.
