Governement Officials Choose Hyundai KONA Electric Over Tata Tigor EV And Mahindra Verito EV

According to media reports, Hyundai Motors India Limited has been chosen for the order for 300 units of the Kona electric SUV from the Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL). The report also states that 177 units of the Hyundai Kona EV have been already delivered to the government agency.
 
 Launched in July 2019, the Hyundai Kona EV is HMIL’s first Product in the EV Space. The KONA comes at a Priced at Rs 23.7 lakh, The Hyundai KONA comes with high voltage 39.2KwH battery pack giving the SUV 452km of range. The Tigor and e-Verito have less than 20kWh batteries.

EESL also stated that the Tata Tigor EV and Mahindra e-Verito sedan was not chosen as issued were faced earlier with their respective offerings.

Officials close to the matter stated that the preference for Hyundai Kona was partly due to its battery size which is three times the size of Mahindra's and Tata's offerings. Additionally, the operating cost of the SUV is just 40 paisa/km.
