Suzuki Burgman Street 125 Review: Comfort Companion

Suzuki has chosen a different way to impress the scooter lovers of the 125cc segment. Suzuki already has Access 125 in this segment, so it introduced Burgman Street in India, which is inspired by its international series of the maxi scooter. The maxi scooters are good looking and stand apart from the crowd of any other scooter. We at BW Autoworld got a chance to drive it and here is what we think.

Design and Styling- Suzuki Burgman looks slightly more attractive than all other scooters. The credit goes to its apron, which is wide and looks striking too. The first thing that you will notice is its apron, which houses the LED headlight and turns indicators. The Headlight provides abundant illumination in the dark with a focused low beam and a powerful wide high beam. 

The headlight of the scooter is always-on type; after all, it is the government's decision. The headlight is fitted on the apron, not on the handle which means it will not sync with handle during turns, which could be an issue. 

The digital instrument cluster is situated at the top of the apron. It shows a speedometer, odometer, 2 trip meters, and the fuel indicator. Apart from this, the side profile of this scooter is also quite effective. The company has used chrome for the branding the name of Burgman Street in its side, which provides a premium look to the scooter. There is a single seat in the scooter which is comfortable and plushy.   

At the rear, the scooter has LED tail light with indicators and a split grab rail, which is designed in a way so that a pillion rider can comfortably sit and hold it. The scooter provides you space for your water bottle through a cavity and it also has a glove box in which you can charge the mobile and keep inside it. 

We think the lock-in facility could also be provided so that the rider could keep his belongings without any tension. The exhaust of scooter comes in dual-tone and maintains its sporty character. The under seat storage of the scooter also has lots of space, though it still can’t hold the large size helmet in it.

Engine and Performance- Burgman Street comes with a 124.6cc air-cooled engine and this engine produces 8.7 BHP of power and 10.2 Nm of torque. The 0-60KMPH sprint can be achieved in 8-9 sec. The company has re-tuned the engine, which makes it a better performer and hence, makes it easy commuting in heavy traffic. The Burgman offers impressive breaking performance. It just takes 2-3 sec to stop the scooter from 60kmph. 

Burgman Street comes with disc brake at the front and drums brake at the rear section. The scooter also comes with CBS (Combined-braking system), which means you can comfortably apply brakes at higher speed and it will stop very smoothly. Coming to the mileage of scooter, it gives around 42kmpl in city and around 46kmpl in a highway touring. The Suzuki Burgman 125 offers a fuel tank capacity of 5.6 liters, so you need to spend on petrol again after 220-240 Km.

Ride and Handling- The footstep area of the scooter is broad and you can choose to fix your footstep at the place behind the apron to get the feel of a cruiser motorcycle.  The claimed top speed of the scooter is 95kmph but during our review, we managed to cross that limit and take it to somewhere around 98kmph in controlled situations. The ride quality of the scooter is very smooth even at higher speeds. The rear wheel of the scooter is small and sometimes struggles a bit at uneven areas and large pits but perfect on plain roads situation. You will feel confident even at very sharp turns on this scooter.

The suspension is really effective and seats of the scooter are plushy and adjusted in a way that even shorter rider can touch their feet to the ground. Overtaking and get rid of traffic is a very easy task in Suzuki Burgman Street as it accelerates very quick, thanks to its 125cc engine. You can take to scooter to long distances at one go without harming your sitting posture. 

Conclusion- Suzuki Burgman Street is priced at Rs. 69,133 (ex-showroom), which is Rs. 6000 more expensive than Access 125cc top variant. The rivals of the scooter are NTorq, Aprilia SR125, and Honda Grazia. These scooters are similarly priced and just a little bit different from each other. If the priority is little more power and the sporty look you can look towards Aprilia SR125 and NTorq. If the priority is power with comfort and amazing looks then you should go with Suzuki Burgman Street.
