Tata Reaches Milestone Of Rolling Out 50,000 EVs

Tata Motors today, rolled-out its 50000th EV, from its Pune facility. Favorable policy environment, positive word of mouth from existing customers, practical product options, better ride and handling and attractive cost of ownership have helped the Company achieve this feat ahead of its target.

We created an entire EV ecosystem with Tata Group companies to provide simple, cost effective solutions for our customers. Celebrating 50,000th EVs in India is a strong testament to how our portfolio is resonating with people across the country. EVs are offering a practical solution to problems of rising fuel price and worsening pollution. Customers are now ready to welcome EVs and we are thrilled to witness the transition from early adopters to now EVs becoming a mainstream choice for Indian customers,” said Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility.

Tata Motors played a significant role in India's distribution of electric vehicles. The Tigor EV and the Tiago EV are enabling continued growth of the company's EV volumes, while the Nexon EV has consistently been the largest-selling electric vehicle in India. Tata Motors actually sold 17,150 electric vehicles in India during the current fiscal year, from April to August 2022, averaging 3000–4000 units per month.

Tata has launched three EVs so far named as Nexon EV, Tigor EV, and Tiago EV. Tata recently launched Tiago EV at an very much affordable price of EV so far. The price of base variant of Tiago EV starts at an opening price of Rs08.49 lakh and toppend model starts from Rs 11.79 lakh. It is offered in two battery packs which are 19.2kWh that has a range of 250 km and another of 24 kWh that has a range of 350 km.

While new products are developed to cater to evolving customer needs, Tata Motors also offered software updates to existing EV customers so they can enjoy a renewed driving and ownership experience. Furthermore, with an aim to make EVs easily accessible, Tata Motors has entered 80 new cities, expanding its network to more than 165 cities, helping consumers embrace EVs as their mode of personal mobility.

Going forward, Tata Motors is focusing on a three-phased architecture approach for EVs and plans to launch 10 EVs in 5 years.
